According to historical records, M. K. \u010ciurlionis would come to the Villa <em>Linksma<\/em> to give piano lessons to Gra\u017eina Kiersnovskyt\u0117, a friend of his youth and the Villa owner\u2019s youngest daughter, and to enjoy plein air painting with her sister Zofija Kiersnovskyt\u0117<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A brick summer house of Modern and Neoclassical styles is situated on the north-eastern shore of lake Druskonis, next to the church, in the very centre of the city. The congruity of the Villa and the locale fascinates the residents and guests of the resort, which is why it is the most photographed site in Druskininkai. The building of the city museum, Villa <em>Linksma<\/em>, can be called the hallmark of Druskininkai resort. The museum houses the only consistent exposition of the resort\u2019s history in the city, and has accumulated valuable iconographic and archival material from Druskininkai. Druskininkai City Museum also boasts the art collection. It embraces the collection of works by Lithuanian diaspora artists donated by Petras Vi\u0161\u010dinis, (honorary citizen of Druskininkai), the collection of portraits donated by Domas Akstinas and Snieguol\u0117 Jurskyt\u0117-Akstinien\u0117 (patrons of the museum) consisting of drawings and lithographs by A.Varnas, R.\u010carna, A.\u0160akalis, V. Klemka, Antanas Aleksandravi\u010dius, A. Stankus-Stankevi\u010dius, R. Krasninkevi\u010dius, portraits of noblemen by 18th\u201319th c. anonymous artists, paintings by J. Bura\u010das and other Lithuanian artists, bas-reliefs and medals by famous Lithuanian artists, portrait medals of notable people created by Lithuanian and foreign artists, as well as the collection of works produced during <em>M.K.\u010ciurlionis Days<\/em> plein airs in Druskininkai, which were held from 1970s to 2000. The museum hosts many events, concerts, meetings and conferences. Events are also held in the surroundings of the museum. On the terrace, open air chamber music concerts take place during the warm seasons, for two decades the events of the international art festival <em>Druskininkai Summer with M.K. \u010ciurlionis<\/em> organized by the Lithuanian Musicians\u2019 Support Foundation have been held here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Museum visitors remark that Druskininkai is a place where you can discover yourself, relax, stay closer to nature. The visitors get astounded at the museum\u2019s expositions \u2013 time really turns around: long-standing dictums are relevant and even fashionable today! Therefore, the museum employees are joking seriously: \u201cIf you did not pay a visit to the City Museum, you did not get to know Druskininkai\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>Information for visitors:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>M.
