Church St. John the Baptist, Plungė (Vytauto g. 32)

In the old wooden Church of St. John the Baptist (after the construction of the new one next to it, the old church was demolished in 1934), M. K. Čiurlionis played and sang in the church choir together with other students of the Manor Orchestra School. In the summer of 1909, when M. K. Čiurlionis settled with his wife Sofija Kymantaitė at her uncle’s, the priest Vincentas Jarulaitis, he often played the organ on Sunday church service. M. K. Čiurlionis played so sensually, beautifully, and the organ music sounded so majestically that it seemed that even the roof of the old church was moving.
