M. K. Čiurlionis was born in Varėna region, which has a special aura and stands out from other regions of Lithuania for its unique nature, folk art, distinct traditions, legends and lore. All this is reflected in the artist’s work, because spiritual wealth of the land of this region shines in the palms of Lithuania as in M. K. Čiurlionis’ Fairy Tale of Kings. Established in 2011, the Park of Legends of Varėna is a place where visitors can get acquainted with the legends of the region, get to know the locale, ingenuity of its people and nature better. The Park boasts recreation areas where you can sit down on 7 benches made by folk artists on nature themes, admire 9 wooden sculptures inspired by the legends of Varėna region, including a sculpture dedicated to the name of Varėna. The Park is equipped with a mini-stage, offering a non-traditional setting for music evenings, folklore concerts and other events.
